Our wonderfully colourful cat collars are handmade by us using reclaimed fabrics and all come with a detachable tinkle bell. Measuring 10cm wide on the band, they are fully adjustable in length so will fit neck sizes ranging from approximately 19cm to 30cm.
The patterned fabrics we use contain mixed colours. As you can see in these photos, pattern placement is random and therefore it varies slightly from collar to collar for most of the designs.
By using reclaimed fabrics, Nature’s Goodies supports numerous charities using fabric sourced from shops selling unwanted clothes. Unwanted ladies summer dresses are a great source of glorious colours! But of course, this does mean that designs are limited in number.
Why do we add a bell?
House cats don't need to wear collars, but for cats who go outside, it is advisable that a cat should wear a collar with a bell. This protects wildlife who have learned that the sound of the bell alerts them to the presence of a predator. All that said, if you don't want a bell on your collar, it is easily detachable.
Why do we use plastic?
Cats are highly agile, liking to jump and climb, even into the tops of trees. So it is vitally important that your cat’s collar is a safety collar which will break away if it becomes snagged. This protects your cat from getting dangerously trapped at the neck which, of course, none of us want.
Currently, the only safety breakaway buckles made for cat collars are made from plastic. Though we don't like using plastic for anything, we will always put the safety of your cat first by only using breakaway buckles.
Fitting/Safety Instructions
When fitting the collar onto your cat, ensure that there is a 2-finger gap between your cat's neck and the collar. Any less than this, and it could be too tight when your cat changes position. If it's too loose, it can snag when they scratch, catch on protrusions much more easily, or even slip off over the top of their head.
If you wish to remove the bell, this is easily done by opening the gap in the mini split-ring (in the same way as separating key rings).
