Curly Parsley (Petroselinum crispum) is a hardy bushy biennial aromatic herb loved not only by us but also by rabbits, guinea pigs and many other small pets. It is rich in vitamin C, vitamin A, iron and flavour and so provides a tasty addition to our and our pets’ diet. 
 
Our packets contain 50 seeds. They are grown in the UK on a farm with Soil Association organic certification.
 
To aid germination, steep the seeds in warm water (40°C) overnight. Seeds are slow to germinate and the seedlings are relatively slow growing compared to some other plants. But given the prolific growth possible if your plants are given sunshine and space, together with the benefits of plants grown from seeds harvested from organic plants which have not been grown with toxic chemicals, growing parsley as food for your pets or yourself from organic seeds is definitely well worth the wait! 
 
Parsley grows equally well in containers as directly in the ground, though if sown early in the season, it is best to keep it undercover while still small to protect it from frost. Remove developing flower heads as plants grow to prolong lush leaf growth. Though parsley is a biennial plant (2-year life cycle) our parsley plants have grown successfully in our herb garden for 3 years and during their 3rd year they continued to provide lush leaves, before dying back. Perhaps it’s because we continually cut them (including any developing flower heads) that may have lengthened their lives!
 
Please note: unlike many of the other plants for which we sell seeds, parsley is not a suitable feed for tortoises.
